What About Life Purpose?

A lot of people wonder about purpose. They wonder if they're on course with it. They wonder what it is. They wonder how they can discover what it is. One of the characters from my novel The Goddess Documents talks to the Trainees in the book about finding theirs.

Here's an excerpt:

“Today, we’re going to be doing some exercises on finding your purpose.” Mother breezed into the room.

“But if we’re going to be Daughters why do we need to find our purpose? I thought our purpose was helping young women achieve their dreams?” asked Aimee.

“Yes, that’s one of the missions of the Daughters. But each one of you needs to clarify for yourself why and how you want to do this. Not all women in the lineage are invited to be Daughters. Not all women who are invited accept. Not all of the Trainees go on to apprenticeship. Why are you here?

"We don’t want anyone to lose herself in becoming a Daughter. On the contrary, we want each Daughter to become more of who she really is.

“We each have individual strengths, passions and aptitudes. Discovering and developing those areas that are personal and unique to each of us is one way we keep our spark alive. It’s also one of the things that keeps the Daughters vibrant through the centuries.

“Part of my purpose is teaching young women. I’m able to do much of that here in Windmere House. I’m also able to use that skill out on assignment. However, there are several other ways I fulfill my mission of teaching. For example, once a year, I go to South America and work with young girls there. That’s one way I maintain my identity as a person, separate from the Daughters.

“Other women do it by holding regular jobs or having businesses where they fulfill different aspects of their individuality and live their purpose. That’s why we have Daughters who are doctors, artists and business women.

“That’s not to imply that your career is your purpose. A career is only one aspect of fulfilling a life purpose. A purpose shows up in every aspect of your life, not just in the career you choose. It infuses everything you do and everything you are.

“Don’t worry about getting some grand vision of what your purpose or mission is,” Mother continued. “I only use those words because they are part of our popular culture today. What I mean is: What do you want?

Your personal desires are really the key to your purpose. Desires are born in the eternal realm. Whatever gives your soul joy is your key to finding fulfillment and happiness. It’s the way you know what service you are here to share. Your deepest desires are motivators for what you are here to give the world. Mother looked around the room.
