Time Management and Freedom
So what is time management anyway? Does it really even exist?
Let’s be honest. There is no such thing as managing time. You can really only manage your Self in time.
Managing your Self in time can and will lead to a great deal of personal freedom. But first you really deal with the idea of wasting time.
First of let me free you from this notion. You cannot waste time. Time goes on. It never ends. In fact it doesn’t even really exist. So how can time management exist?
“But what about my life?” you ask. “I only get so many years, right?”
Yes. And no. Your body on this planet, yes, it only gets so many years. But the real you, your soul. Is eternal. So what might seem like wasting a few hours here and there, really doesn’t amount to anything in the eternal. Where there is no time.
The only thing left is the now. You do get to choose what you do in any “Now” moment. Not the past. Not the future. Only in the now. So what’s important to you “now?” Do that.
When asked that way, we find that our choices become clearer. What’s important now? Watching a silly sitcom or playing with your kids? What’s important now? Worrying about work, or enjoying your time off? What’s important now? Getting physically fit or having another cookie?
So maybe you don’t always make the choices you think you should. So what? There is no time. There is no wasted time. So accept yourself, your actions and be in Now.
For some the ultimate promise that there is no wasted time comes from the Bible:
"And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied." -Joel 2:25
